VILLA LE MASCHERE

Built in the second half of the sixteenth century by the Bettini family, Villa Le Maschere was later acquired by the Florentine Gerini family, who began to enlarge and restructure the house, and to reorganise the park with new avenues and an Italian style garden. At the end of the seventeenth century the villa was remodelled by Giovanni Battista Foggini, chief architect and sculptor to the court of the Grandduke of Tuscany Cosimo III de’ Medici.
Foggini’s most famous works include statues at the churches of the Carmine and Santissima Annunziata in Florence, but he was also responsible for renovations at many Florentine palaces including the grand staircase at Palazzo Medici-Riccardi.
By the 18th and 19th centuries Villa Le Maschere was considered one of the most beautiful Tuscan villas. Le Maschere was a favourite stop for popes (Pius IX in 1857), sovereigns (Carlo Emanuele IV King of Sardinia in 1801, King Carlo Felice in 1821), as well as many renowned noblemen and artists.
Pleasantly situated in the hills of the Mugello near the Bilancino Lake, Villa Le Maschere was the subject of a 5 year-long restoration and has been reborn as a 5-star resort. Le Maschere is a place of great historical and architectural value, but with its special emphasis on contemporary interior design it is also a superb expression of the world-famous "Made in Italy."
Nature and art, water and silence, are the magical backdrop to the 65 bedrooms and suites. These rooms sit in the midst of a romantic park of 18 hectares dotted with sequoia and rare trees, alongside an Italian-style garden and two pools.
Villa Le Maschere also owns the PGA Championship Golf Course "Poggio Dei Medici", 18 holes, 72 par just 15 minutes driving from the Resort. Villa Le Maschere is open all Year around.

Elegant Room

Soberly decorated, the Elegant Bedrooms of the main villa (between 16 and 28 square metres each), are all characterised by their distinctive bed. A special feature of each is the high bed head, upholstered or in lacquered wood, crowned by a decorative gesso moulding in the style of the villa. The colours of the curtains, cushions, armchairs and the classical-style wardrobe, add a lightness to these rooms’ relaxing atmosphere.

Superior Room

A classic and pure style, at once both elegant and functional, characterise the Superior Bedrooms of the Villa (from 20 to 33.5 square metres).  The colourful notes of the furniture and fabrics complete the relaxing atmosphere.  These rooms also offer good views on to the park and the Bilancino Lake.

Junior Suites

The Junior Suites of the Villa (from 21 to 37 square metres) are largely on the ground floor and offer guests insights into the personal histories of some of the building’s historic owners.
Frescoed ceilings depict the romance and the adventure of travel, while the strongly-coloured baroque furnishings have a minimalist, contemporary elegance. The colours of the Junior Suite fabrics complete and enrich the whole effect, creating a relaxing atmosphere and a harmonious sensation of wellbeing.

Suite

Memories of oriental journies decorate the ceiling and the walls of the bedroom, while another room bears scenes of romantic Italian balls and music. These are subtle themes that evoke thoughts of distant lands.

Prestige Collection

The sleek, geometrically-framed baldacchino bed contrasts strongly with the sinuous lines of this room. The maroon upholstery also creates an eye-catching contrast, in a space conceived as a kind of exquisite dessert in the pastel delicacy of its decor and stuccoes. It contains two LCD televisions, one in the living area and one in the bedroom. The warm tones of the furnishings and the textiles enrich the colours of the frescoes.
