AVOID A BAD
IMPRESSION WITH YOUR FUTURE IN-LAWS
While it’s important to just be
yourself, make sure you stay outside the TMI (too much information) zone
within the first few meetings. Here are some tips for holding back:
1) If
they are blissfully ignorant about your premarital sleeping arrangements,
don’t slip by divulging his/her snoring habits.
2) Lock
the potty mouth and throw away the key, at least at first. Some families
are comfortable using foul language in a hearty way, while others detest
it.
3)
Limit your alcohol intake. Your nerves may beg soothing, but too much of
a buzz may get you feeling overconfident, which could lead to
embarrassment the next day.
4)
Make sure it’s apparent how much you and your partner respect each other,
and refrain from arguing within earshot of the parents about petty or
sensitive topics (e.g., if you’re disturbed by the 500 supermodel photos
on their computer, don’t broadcast it!).
Just remember to try seeing things from the parents’ point of view and
how they want what’s best for their precious son or daughter. If you show
that you’re kind, considerate, and motivated, the rest should fall into
place with time.

The Charm of Castles, Chateaux, and Villas
Often preserved with details dating back centuries,
landmarks like castles, chateaux, and villas provide the luxuries of
today with glimpses into the past. The following regions contain
some of the world’s finest properties to relish in peaceful surroundings
and admire artful restorations, whether the setting allows you to dine on
a terrace, stroll through a vineyard, or gaze at the sea.

Castello Banfi Il Borgo
Italy: Enjoy
the 16th century restored Villa
la Massa which stands on the banks of the River Arno in Tuscany, with
Renaissance style rooms adorned with antique furniture. To continue a
Tuscan vibe, Castello
Banfi Il Borgo’s luxury rooms and suites are nestled into the homes
that were built alongside a medieval fortress, set along vast acres of
vineyards. Hotel
L’Andana, which also sits on the Tuscan countryside, is situated at
the foot of green hills covered with olive orchids with views of the
Mediterranean. You can also enjoy the Mediterranean from Palazzo
Sasso, a refurbished 12th century villa in the
charming hillside town of Ravello.
Experience a slice of the city and take in the panoramic
views of Florence surrounding vineyards and forests at Villa
Mangiacane, imbued with history and culture. Venice’s Ca’Sagredo
Hotel contains important 17th and 18th artworks
and overlooks the banks of the Grand Canal.
Spain: The decor and design of
the rooms, suites and restaurants at Hotel
Villa Padierna along the Costa del Sol reflects the traditional
lifestyle of an Italian villa with Roman columns, charming fountains,
antique paintings, historical sculptures and cozy fireplaces.
Greece: A branch of the Yria
Resort, Yria Ktima and Luxury Villa is set on a secluded hillside,
comprising a centennial mansion considered an architectural Paros
treasure surrounding by two acres of fragrant gardens.
France: In the heart of Loire
Valley, Chateau
de Noizay is a charmingly constructed 16th century edifice set on 24
hectares of land overlooking the wine-making village of Noizay. Chateau
de Bagnols, which sits along the Beaujolais Countryside, is a
magical vineyard chateau-hotel dating from the 13th century,
featuring towers, the original dry moat, and a dramatic entrance across a
bridge. Chateau
Saint-Martin & Spa, located between Nice and Cannes, is set in a
poetic park of 34 acres on the ruins of a knight’s templar and combines
the soul of Provence with the prestige of the French Riviera.
Switzerland:
Badrutt’s
Palace Hotel in St. Mortiz is situated up on 1800 meters above sea
level within the Swiss Alps, overlooking a sparkling lake amid
breathtaking, unspoiled scenery. A unique location just steps from Lake
Zurich, Hotel
Baur au Lac is a dramatic mansion that has catered to royalty, yet
has a style evoking the intimate atmosphere of a private home.
Austria: Vienna’s Hotel
Imperial was an original Wurttemberg palace, inaugurated in 1873 by
Emperor Franz Joseph I. The elegantly furnished hotel's architectural
detailing exemplifies Vienna's own Ringstrasse style.
Mexico:
La
Casa Que Canta’s dramatic multi-tiered architecture is fashioned
entirely from natural materials. Offering superb views over the
Zihuatanejo Bay, the hotel’s two private residences are adorned with
Mexican art and filled with spots to lounge and absorb tranquil
surroundings.
Jamaica: A
former 100 acre pineapple, allspice and coconut plantation, Round
